History
Singapore
The people behind Garag3 started e27 Singapore after returning from a year’s work and study in Silicon Valley. We brought back concepts of hackathons, developer’s garage and unconference styled events ran in Silicon Valley.
Throughout the events, we found out that there is always a group of event attendees who eventually form teams and startup. To further assist these people, together with NUS Enterprise, we decided to create a Garag3 in the midst of the NUS Incubator system.
The Original Concept in Silicon Valley
The garage at 367 Addison Avenue in Palo Alto can be considered the birthplace of the world’s first hi-tech region. It is where the founders of Hewlett Packard got started with only $538. In a sense Bill and Dave did more than just kick off the Valley’s mania for electronics, they gave birth to the ethic that infuses the entire region.
And if there is a lesson for the rest of us, it is that the work is the most important thing, that all it takes is dedication, dreams.. and perhaps a garage. And pretty much everybody has those.
Okay, perhaps not the garages for Singapore. But HEY look, we have the Garag3! The garage with a difference (”e”=3) but sounds the same!! Check out the guys who made it a success starting in their garages – BE INSPIRED.
